Weather

Just like your weekly weather forecasts back home, the following information is the yearly prediction of what weather will be like in the Amazon. Info provided by both Native and Naturalist Guides who spend the majority of their time at the lodge. Guides know their stuff, they spend about 240 days out of the year in the Amazon.

When is the best time of year to visit the Ecuadorian Amazon?

Anytime throughout the year is a good time to visit the Amazon in Ecuador. Weather conditions are not set and stone and can vary quite greatly. It is even more important to note that wildlife can still be seen during wet and rainy months. In general, the months with the most wildlife seen are November, December, January, February & March.

What is the temperature like?

The average temperature throughout the year varies between 79 F / 26 C and 95 F / 35 C. At times the humidity may be heavy, this is just as unpredictable as the unexpected rain showers. We’ve found that light fabric and breathable clothes are more comfortable. When the sun is out, it can be quite hot. In the evenings it can cool down quite a bit so we recommend bringing something a slightly warmer just in case you find it chilly in your suites.

Aditional Resources

DO’S & DON’TS in the Jungle

Try avoiding bright colored or white wear, so as not to distract (or frighten) certain animals. The more camouflaged you dress the better!

Make sure your electronic equipment is at least somewhat waterproof or packed in a waterproof bag or pouch, especially if you plan to use it in the field during excursions.

Try and refrain from speaking loudly when on forest trails or canoe trips.

Try and be as quiet and cautious as possible.

Watch your step and follow the group. Don’t try to get ahead of the guide or tour leader, and don’t lag too far behind.

Always tell your guide if you see something and don’t hesitate to ask questions. That’s what we are here for!

Don’t litter! Bring a backpack or plastic bag in which you can discard plastic, wrappers, paper, or other synthetic waste.

Whisper and try to keep movement to a minimum near wildlife, especially when animals are at earshot.

Do not wear perfume or perfumed sprays as the sweet scent can attract insects.

Don’t throw or drop anything along the trails, even biodegradable food.

Avoid bright colored shirts while in the forest, as they may scare the animals.

Take advantage of as many outings as possible… the adventure lies ‘out there’. We guarantee that, given the right conditions, every outing we have chosen on our itinerary is fit to offer unique, astounding experiences… but many factors may influence just how spectacular each outing will be. Don’t be discouraged… we guarantee that our itineraries are designed to bring our guests unforgettable, life changing experiences.

If you have physical limitations or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask our guides if trails and activities are right for you. Most activities don’t require excessive effort, but please let us know when you are feeling uncomfortable during an outing, or would like to know more about difficulties you may encounter on an outing once you have been explained what it entails.

Don’t hesitate to express your interests to our staff! It is important to us that you make this adventure, your adventure. We have the ability to offer a certain level of flexibility in terms of the alternatives to our daily activities. Although it is not always possible, we will do what we can to personalize your Amazon experience.
